On the 16th May 2026 at 8.30 a.m., seventeen petitioners gathered at the Masonic Hall, Johor
Bahru, Johor, Malaysia, to witness and participate in the birth of the first Order of Knight Masons
in Malaysia, “Noble Quest Council of Knight Masons No. 199”. The occasion marked a significant
and historic milestone in the advancement of Knight Masonry within the country.
Right Excellent Assistant Great Chief, Ven. R.E. Sir Knight Robert C. Barnes, opened a Grand
Council of Knight Masons for the purpose of constituting this new Council and was assisted by
the following distinguished Sir Knights:
In total, there were 23 Sir Knights in attendance.
Upon the completion of the Constitution and Dedication ceremonies, the following were
declared the Founding Officers of the Noble Quest Council of Knight Masons No. 199:
Sir Knight Mupindra Singh was then installed into the Chair of Noble Quest Council of Knight
Masons No. 199 as the Founding Excellent Chief by Right Excellent Assistant Great Chief, Ven. R.E.
Sir Knight Robert C. Barnes.
The Signet of Noble Quest was then presented, and its meaning explained, by Right Excellent
Assistant Great Chief, Ven. R.E. Sir Knight Robert C. Barnes.
Noble Quest Council No. 199 has been honoured with a Travelling Warrant to ensure that this
noble Order is spread throughout its travelling jurisdiction, thereby helping to grow and
strengthen the Order in the years to come.
This Constitution will surely go down in the annals of Knight Masonry, where so few, yet with so
many willing hands, made possible the successful Constitution of the Noble Quest Council of
Knight Masons No. 199. Through their dedication, unity, and tireless efforts, the ceremony held
on 16th May 2026 at the Masonic Hall, Johor Bahru, became a memorable milestone in the
history of Knight Masonry in Malaysia.
The Banner of Noble Quest Council of Knight Masons No. 199 was then unveiled with the
following oration:
The banner of the Noble Quest Council is more than a decorative ensign; it is the living symbol of the Council’s values, purpose, and identity. Every detail woven into its design carries meaning rooted in the traditions of Knighthood and the teachings of Freemasonry.
At the heart of the banner is the figure of a knight clad in full armour, standing vigilant with sword in
hand and shield upon his arm. The knight represents the eternal virtues of courage, vigilance, loyalty, and
readiness to defend truth and justice against ignorance and falsehood. His sword is not merely a
weapon, but the emblem of duty and righteousness— wielded to uphold the honour of the Order and
to protect the innocent.
Upon his shield gleams a radiant star, the guiding emblem of the Council. The star embodies
the light of knowledge, the illumination of faith, and the hope of unity among all brethren.
Just as the ancient mariner steered his course by the guiding star in the heavens, so too does
the Knight Mason navigate the journey of life by the eternal light of truth and the wisdom of
the Great Architect of the Universe. Its golden rays remind the members of their shared
obligation to spread light where there is darkness and to uphold virtue wherever they may be
found.
Encircling this central imagery are the words “Noble Quest Council,” proudly declaring the
identity of the body. The name itself evokes the spiritual and moral mission of every Knight
Mason — a noble quest in search of virtue, brotherhood, and service to mankind. It is a
reminder that our journey is not one of conquest or earthly ambition, but of inner refinement,
charity, and the pursuit of divine truth.
The colours of the banner are chosen with care. The green signifies growth, life, and the eternal
renewal of spirit, while the gold of the star represents wisdom, enlightenment, and the eternal
reward of a virtuous life. The Knight in Black Armour reflects solemn dignity, humility, and
strength of character, tempered with discipline.
When raised in Council, the banner becomes more than fabric — it is a rallying point, a
declaration of unity, and a call to duty. It inspires each Knight to remember his vows, to act with
honour, and to uphold the principles of charity, truth, and loyalty. It serves as a visual covenant
between the brethren and the Order, reminding all who gaze upon it that they are bound
together by sacred ties in the pursuit of a noble quest.
Thus, the Noble Quest Council banner is not only an emblem of the Council’s existence but a
constant reminder of the greater work entrusted to its members: to live as true Knights,
steadfast in faith, unyielding in duty, and ever guided by the radiant star of truth
