
On the 18th May at 5 pm 11 petitioners gathered at Freemasons’ Hall, Kolkata to witness and
participate in the birth of the first Order of the Knight Masons in Eastern and Northern India,
“Shamrock on the Hooghly Council of Knight masons No 74
Right Excellent Assistant Great Chief, Ven. R.E. Sir Knight Robert C. Barnes, opened a Grand
Council of Knight Masons for the purpose of constituting this new Council and was assisted by
the following distinguished Sir Knights:
Grand Senior Knight, E Sir Kt Vivek Misra; Grand Junior Knight, E Sir Kt Sreevardhan Sinha;
Grand Scribe, E Sir Kt V Periannan; Grand Priest, R Ex Sir Kt Adi Aga

Upon the completion of the Constitution and Dedication ceremonies, the following were declared
the Founding Officers of the Shamrock on the Hooghly Council of Knight Masons No. 74:

Sir Knight Amit Jyoti Sen was then installed into the Chair of Shamrock on the Hooghly Council
of Knight Masons No. 74 as the Founding Excellent Chief by Right Excellent Assistant Great
Chief, Ven. R.E. Sir Knight Robert C. Barnes.
The Secrets of the Chair were communicated to, Sir Knight Amit Jyoti Sen, Sir Knight Subir Dutta
Sir Knight Sandeep Kumar Mukherjee
The Signet of Shamrock Council was then presented, and its meaning explained, by Right
Excellent Assistant Great Chief, Ven R E Sir Knight Robert C. Barnes.
The Symbol of Shamrock Council was then displayed: A stylized Shamrock below which is a flow of
water representing the river Hooghly:
The Grand Council of Knight Masons was then closed in due form, after which the business of
Shamrock on the Hooghly Council of Knight Masons No 74 was conducted.
